Won Another Game Against IM Ricardo De Guzman

As I and my son Ahyan regularly play Friday Night Marathon at Fremont Norcal House of Chess, I frequently face IM Ricardo De Guzman there. I invariably loose all the time except once I won. Today won a second time. If you want to check my first win against Ricardo, here it is.

IM Odondoo Ganbold is champion this time in Tuesday Night Marathon scoring 6.5 out of 8. Today in the 8th and final round he defeated Hans Niemann. I defeated National Master Russell Wong to be jointly runner up with IM Elliott, Steven Gaffagan, Sergei Ostrovosky. In the second board of last round, Hayk was in a better position against Steven Gaffagan as far as I last saw. But they drew and hence Hayk despite being top seed ended after half a point behind us. Ashik vs IM Elliott Charles Winslow, Tuesday Night Marathon, Winter 2014. Round 2

Today I got my first win in a serious chess tournament against an international master. I defeated International Master Elliott Charles Winslow in a long battle at second round of Tuesday Night Marathon, Winter 2014, Mechanics Chess Institute, San Francisco.

I lost to him in the last cycle of Tuesday Night Marathon (Fall 2013) by making an early sacrifice without proper preparation. This time also made a temporary sacrifice to expose his King early in the game. While the material ended up being equal, his one rook stuck in the corner making his position difficult to defend.

I see that IM John Donaldson gave 2 diagrams from this game in current issue of Mechanics Chess Newsletter.
